Just specify I'm not going to write only about the features of the operating system and write the programs and that it can be used.
1) Easy to install programs, "Software Center Ubuntu". Repository comfortable thing, but only if you have unlimited internet, but it is difficult to find someone who now do not.
2) Free update almost every day, very good thing, but sometimes lack persistence.
3) Lack of most stupid security holes inherent in the OS family of Windows, a small number of viruses for this OS.
4) Free of all programs and packages available in the repository.
5) Built-in FTP, SFTP, a very handy feature just a bit buggy at times ...
Many virtues, and all I do not remember, but move on to the disadvantages.
1) Lack of a larger number of powerful software available for Windows or difficulties with its use, a Photo Shop which is screwed.
2) A small number of games, again with difficulty screwing games coming to Windows
3) Kink in the multi-threading in most browsers, all browsers from Google Chrome only works properly in multithreaded mode
4) Strange connecting flash media with security enabled on the record, they just do not connect

Now, many red-Linux users otpinali to me because I'm in the majority of the items described disadvantages, not the OS. This is partly yes they are right, but the opinion is formed on operating its functionality and scope, but it all depends on the availability of convenient and functional programs for the OS.
I certainly like Ubuntu and Linux in general, but alas it is a fact that most immature people just do not hear when you tell them about Linux and Ubuntu. The reason is that all what they used it in windows where a lot of problems with pay, pirated software, which is full of viruses and antivirus software are no better than the viruses with which they fight.
What I am 100% sure is the fact that after the end of the world at the free software more likely to survive, and all because of its open source codes and their copies in the hands of various companies and people, and yet any paid software is in some their hands.
